Do I need a partner?

No partner necessary! During private lessons your instructor will be your dance partner, and during group lessons or parties everyone will be invited to rotate partners after each dance.

What do I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing and clean dry shoes that fit securely to your feet. Do not wear boots, flip-flops, or any sort of slip-on shoes.

Do I need to get dance shoes right away?

Street shoes can serve beginners perfectly fine, but consider that they may not allow your foot to glide along the floor when you want it to, posing an extra challenge to some styles of dance. So your instructor is likely to recommend upgrading as your skills advance.

While shoes designed for dancing are preferred, always consider the venue(s) where you’ll be dancing. Suede-soled dance shoes are best reserved for dedicated ballrooms and spotless dance floors.
